Manchester companies shut down for subscription fee scam
Two technology companies based in Manchester have been shut down for allegedly scamming customers. The Insolvency Service announced that Affinity Technology Solutions Ltd and RCSR Tech Ltd were wound up in the High Court on Tuesday. Both companies were located in Didsbury. These companies claimed to provide online protection and improve social media presence for users. However, the Insolvency Service stated that they were running a direct debit scam. Many individuals reported being charged £29.99 monthly for services they never signed up for. These charges were reportedly linked to online loan applications through a marketing company’s website. According to complaints, customers struggled to cancel these subscriptions or receive refunds. David Usher, Chief Investigator at the Insolvency Service, noted that there were numerous complaints about both companies tricking consumers into subscriptions for unwanted products. Investigations showed that it was unclear if either company ever provided legitimate services. Both companies did not cooperate with the investigations and failed to file required accounts. As a result, the Official Receiver has been appointed to handle the liquidation of Affinity Technology Solutions Ltd and RCSR Tech Ltd.
