Manchester hosts large St Patrick's Day parade today
Manchester is celebrating St Patrick's Day with a large parade, expected to attract thousands. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the event, returning to the city center for the first time in four years. The parade features over 30 floats and walking groups, including Irish dancers and marching bands. It starts at the Irish World Heritage Centre at noon and covers a two and a half mile route through the city. The event is part of the Manchester Irish Festival, which began on March 7 and runs until March 17. The parade will conclude at King Street, with a podium hosted by Manchester United's announcer Alan Keegan.
