Manchester man shot dead in Pakistan's Swat Valley
A man from Manchester has been killed in Pakistan in what family members describe as an "execution style" shooting. Mohammed Anwar Zeb, 51, was shot at his home in a small village in Swat Valley on March 16. He had moved to Pakistan in 2017 but frequently visited his family in the UK. His sister, Alaia, is seeking answers about his death and wants justice for her brother. She described the situation as "devastating" and said she was traumatized by images of his body shared with her. Zeb was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to the back of his head, and his two guard dogs had been poisoned. Alaia has been in contact with the police in Pakistan but has faced challenges in getting answers. She mentioned the police had not conducted forensic tests on the poisoned dogs, citing costs. She has offered to pay for the tests herself. Zeb had been living alone in his father’s house while dealing with legal matters regarding family property. A week before his murder, he had expressed plans to return to Manchester for a month. His family has raised concerns about the investigation, which they feel is inadequate, given the remote location and limited resources of the local police. The UK's Foreign Office is providing support to Zeb’s family and is in touch with local authorities. They acknowledged the situation and mention that they are looking into the case. Alaia hopes that increased media attention will help bring about a thorough investigation into her brother's tragic death.
