Manchester to build £360 million Nobu skyscraper
Plans have been finalized for a new 76-storey skyscraper in Manchester, which will cost £360 million. This building will become the tallest in the UK outside of London. It is set to include a luxury Nobu hotel with 160 rooms and 452 high-end residences. The Nobu brand, co-owned by actor Robert De Niro, operates 36 hotels worldwide, and the new site will be its 37th. The skyscraper will be built between Deansgate Locks and Manchester Central and is expected to be finished by 2031. The building will feature an exclusive Nobu restaurant and bar, as well as event spaces. It is also notable for being the first location in the UK to have Nobu-branded residences, which will offer luxury amenities like a swimming pool, spa, and gym. Nobu Hospitality's CEO, Trevor Horwell, expressed pride in bringing the brand to Manchester, citing the city's vibrant culture. He emphasized the importance of strong partnerships in their ventures. Simon Ismail, co-founder of the property developer Salboy, spoke about the project's potential to elevate Manchester's dining and service sectors. He noted the global influence of Chef Nobu's cuisine. Fred Done, another co-founder of Salboy, highlighted Nobu's reputation for fine dining. He welcomed the Nobu team to Manchester, emphasizing the project's significance for the city and its residents.
