Manchester United eyeing Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface
Manchester United is looking to sign a new striker this summer, and they are considering Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface as a potential option. Rumors suggest that the club is exploring different players to strengthen their attack, especially since their current forwards have underperformed this season. Initially, United had their eyes on Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen as top targets. However, they are now exploring alternatives in case those deals do not happen. This comes after a difficult season where the team has struggled to score goals, ranking low in the Premier League with only 37 goals in 29 games. Boniface, who joined Leverkusen in 2023, has had an injury-affected season. He has played 22 matches and netted 10 goals. The Nigerian striker is regarded as ‘elite-level’ and was instrumental in helping Leverkusen win their first-ever Bundesliga title last season, contributing to 23 goals in 23 matches. Manchester United is also keeping an eye on other players like Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace and Jonathan David from Lille. Leverkusen has a strong negotiating position, as Boniface is under contract until June 2028. The team is expected to make significant additions this summer, especially after disappointing performances from their current forwards, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who have combined for just six goals this season.
