Mangaluru officials raid hotels for unpaid taxes

On Friday, revenue officials from the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) conducted raids on various hotels, restaurants, and lodges in Mangaluru. The targeted establishments were found to be behind on their property taxes, unpaid water bills, and expired trade licenses. The raids took place in multiple areas, including Lady Hill, Padavinangady, Kottara Chowki, Yeyyadi, and Kuntikana. During the operation, officials warned the owners that they must pay their dues immediately or face further action. Officials also instructed the businesses to ensure their trade licenses were displayed prominently. They reminded the owners to renew their licenses before the due date. The raid is part of ongoing efforts, and officials indicated they would extend their inspections to other parts of the city in the future. The operation was led by K. Akshatha, the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), and N. Vijaya Kumar, the Zonal Commissioner for Mangaluru Central.
