Mangesh Pawar becomes Mayor of Belagavi city corporation

Mangesh Pawar was elected unopposed as Mayor of Belagavi city corporation on March 14, with Vani Vilas Joshi as Deputy Mayor. Both are from the Belagavi South Assembly constituency and are affiliated with MLA Abhay Patil. Pawar, previously disqualified due to conflict of interest, was allowed to participate in the election after a High Court ruling. The BJP holds 60% of the seats in the 58-member council. The election followed a meeting of elected members, where candidates were finalized. Pawar and Joshi received congratulations from local leaders after their election.
