Manhattan's apartment sells for record $60 million
A duplex apartment in downtown Manhattan has set a new record for the most expensive sale in the area. The condo, located at 150 Charles St., sold for $60 million last week. This price surpasses the previous record of $59 million, set by billionaire Robert F. Smith in 2018. The sellers, Harsh Padia and his wife Purvi, purchased the apartment in 2016 for $29 million. This means they doubled their investment in just under a decade. The deal was finalized through real estate agents Jim St. André and Peter Zaitzeff. The 5,840-square-foot apartment offers stunning views of the Hudson River and features a large outdoor terrace. Inside, it has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The modern design includes an eat-in kitchen with marble finishes and a distinctive spiral staircase. While this sale is significant for downtown Manhattan, it does not surpass the most expensive home ever sold in New York City. That record belongs to Ken Griffin, who bought a residence in Central Park South for around $238 million in 2019. The building at 150 Charles St., which opened in 2013, has attracted many celebrities as residents. It includes amenities such as concierge services, a gym, and a private courtyard.
