Manipur government denies existence of Kuki-Zo Council and Lamka district

The Manipur government stated that there is no organization called the "Kuki-Zo Council" and no district named "Lamka." This follows objections from the group regarding Chief Minister N Biren Singh's travel through Kangpokpi district. The government questioned the legitimacy of the Kuki-Zo Council and announced an investigation into its claims. It also noted that the name "Lamka" does not correspond to any official district in Manipur. In response to security concerns, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has reinstated the Protected Area Regime in Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. This requires foreigners to obtain permits for travel in these regions.
