Manvir Singh injured, exits India football squad

Manvir Singh has been dropped from the Indian football team due to an injury. He was part of the squad preparing for a friendly match against the Maldives, scheduled for Wednesday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong. Manvir plays as a winger for Mohun Bagan SG in the Indian Super League. He has now left the training camp in Shillong and will head back to Kolkata. The Indian football team announced his release in a statement. The 27-year-old player has scored seven goals in 47 appearances for the national team. India will compete against Maldives as they prepare for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifier. The team will face Bangladesh on March 25, while Maldives will play against the Philippines next week. In their last encounter, India defeated Maldives 3-1 during the 2021 SAFF Championship group stage. In that match, Manvir scored the first goal, and Sunil Chhetri contributed two more to secure the win for India.
