Marc Guehi aims to strengthen England defense spot
Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace, spoke about being left out of the England squad for a recent match. He did not play against Albania but participated in a 3-0 victory against Latvia at Wembley. Guehi acknowledged he needs to work harder to secure his place in the national team under new coach Thomas Tuchel. Guehi had been a regular starter for England over the past year. He started most matches during the team’s Euro 2024 campaign and played in several Nations League games. However, Tuchel chose to pair Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa with debutant Dan Burn for the Albania game, which surprised many. Despite his disappointment, Guehi sees the situation as a chance to motivate himself. He stated that the competition among defenders is tough but is determined to prove his worth. He said, “It just means I need to work a lot harder to make sure the manager sees me in his plans.” Regarding his performance against Latvia, Guehi felt good playing alongside Konsa and mentioned their good communication. He praised Tuchel's coaching style, highlighting his intense approach and the continuous learning opportunities for players under his guidance.
