President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has departed Manila for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos. He will address issues related to the West Philippine Sea and human trafficking among member states. Marcos plans to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from Canada, New Zealand, Vietnam, and Japan. He will also meet with TikTok officials for business discussions. This marks the first time Vice President Sara Duterte is not designated as a caretaker during the President's absence. Instead, other cabinet members will oversee duties while Marcos is abroad.
