Marcos urges BTA members to safeguard peace progress

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. addressed new members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) on Monday. He urged them to safeguard the achievements made from the Bangsamoro peace process. The ceremony took place at Malacañang Palace. Marcos expressed confidence in the new BTA members' ability to continue implementing signed agreements. He emphasized that each agreement is a step toward lasting peace. He highlighted the significant progress that has been made in the peace process and reminded everyone of their shared responsibility to protect these gains. The President also spoke about the importance of diversity in the country. He noted that different cultures and religions contribute to the nation's identity. He stressed a common desire for peace and progress among all Filipinos. The BTA acts as the interim government for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Recently, Marcos signed a law postponing the first parliamentary elections in BARMM to October 13, 2025. The newly elected officials will begin their terms on October 30, 2025.
