A 29-year-old Marine veteran named Dior Jay-Jarett has been accused of scamming approximately $70,000 in first-class plane tickets. Prosecutors say he used his position as an airline baggage handler to book 130 flights while pretending to be on military leave. Jay-Jarett reportedly claimed he was deployed for military service and used fake documents to support his claims. According to a criminal complaint, he took luxury flights to several destinations, including London, Las Vegas, and Dublin, along with standard-class travel to Mexico and the Caribbean. On social media, he boasted about his travels, mentioning a trip to Cabo San Lucas. However, authorities allege he had not informed the airline about his retirement from military service, which would have disqualified him from the benefits associated with military leave. While employed as a baggage handler, he also worked as a Loss Prevention Lead at a sporting goods store and as a federal air marshal. An FBI agent suggested that he remained on military leave to continue receiving both airline and store employee benefits. Concerns over his actions arose when he was questioned by a TSA agent about carrying a firearm through security. Afterward, Jay-Jarett expressed worries in a text message, believing an investigation might reveal his true employment status. He has been charged with wire fraud, which could result in a maximum 20-year prison sentence if convicted.
