Marist leads 2025 Southland boys volleyball rankings
The Southland boys volleyball season for 2025 is shaping up to be exciting. Marist, the defending state champion, is expected to be a strong contender again. They return top players like Christian Teresi and Nathen Toth. Both are seniors and already have impressive accomplishments. Brother Rice comes in at number two. They have a lot of returning talent, including Paul Baker and the Mikrut twins. Their senior setter, Matt Phelan, has great options to choose from during games. At three is Lincoln-Way West, who hopes to continue their success after reaching last season's quarterfinals. They have 11 players back, including standout Hunter Vedder. Lincoln-Way East takes the fourth spot after a strong showing last year and returns key players as well. Sandburg ranks fifth. Senior outside hitter Jeremiah Aro is a key player for the team, along with his teammates Will Ashum and JT Snider. Reavis places sixth, featuring a skilled libero, Krystian Paluch, and top outside hitter Jozef Walus. Homewood-Flossmoor is seventh, setting a program record last year and returning strong players like Ahmad Powell. Oak Lawn is eighth, with senior Oisin Walsh leading a group of returning starters. Providence, at nine, is focused on winning in the Catholic League with several all-conference players back. Finally, Lockport rounds out the top ten. Although they don't have returning regulars, their consistent performance over the years earns them respect. Senior setter Ryan Dziadkowiec is expected to lead the team. Overall, fans can look forward to a competitive season filled with skilled athletes and promising teams.
