Mark Carney names two Indian women to Cabinet
Mark Carney was sworn in as Canada’s 24th Prime Minister, leading a new Cabinet of 13 men and 11 women, smaller than Justin Trudeau's previous 39-member team. Two Indian female MPs, Anita Anand and Kamal Khera, were appointed to key positions. Anand, 58, is now the Minister of Information, Science and Innovation, while Khera, 36, serves as the Minister of Health. Both women retain ministerial roles from Trudeau's Cabinet but have different portfolios. Carney's Cabinet notably lacks representation from Alberta, which has raised concerns. He stated the smaller size of the Cabinet influenced this decision, emphasizing his role as Prime Minister for all of Canada.
