Marvel Studios has announced new animated projects for 2025 that will introduce different animation styles, addressing a previous limitation seen in the series "What If...?" which used the same style for all episodes. The upcoming shows include "Eyes of Wakanda," inspired by the anime style of "Arcane," and "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," which mimics the hand-drawn look of comic books. "Marvel Zombies" will retain the animation style from "What If...?" but will explore new storylines. Despite these developments, Marvel has yet to create an original fully 2D animated series. The revival of "X-Men: The Animated Series" as "X-Men '97" marks a return to 2D animation, but no new original 2D projects have been announced.
