Marvel's new Spider-Man show will not connect to MCU storyline
Marvel's new 'Spider-Man' show, titled "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This decision allows for greater creative freedom, as the show's development faced limitations when trying to fit into the existing MCU storyline. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV, explained that the initial plan to connect the show to the MCU restricted the use of Spider-Man's villains and origin story. The team decided to remove these constraints to enhance storytelling. The series will explore an alternate timeline where Norman Osborn mentors Peter Parker instead of Tony Stark. "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" is set to premiere on Disney Plus on January 29, 2025.
