Masahiro Sakurai reveals new game in development since 2022

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros., has revealed he has been working on a new game proposal for the past three years. He completed this proposal quickly while finishing up Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC in July 2021. Sakurai stated that he received approval to start production on the new game in October 2021. He noted that assembling the right team would take time, and he used the interim to focus on his YouTube channel. The new game has been in active development since August 2022. Sakurai hinted that an announcement could come soon, but details about the project remain undisclosed.
