A man in Massachusetts won a $2 million lottery prize after he stopped at a store for sugar. While there, he also decided to buy a lottery ticket. Alfred LaRoche, a carpenter from Amesbury, purchased a “$2,500 A Week For Life” scratch ticket. He is the first winner of this new game that began on February 18. LaRoche chose a cash option, receiving a one-time payment of $2 million before taxes. LaRoche plans to use his winnings to build a new cottage. He selected the winning ticket because the number 19 is his lucky number, and the ticket he chose was the 19th in the display. The store clerk rubbed the ticket “for good luck” before giving it to LaRoche. He bought the ticket at Black Duck Market & Deli in Newbury, which will earn a $26,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
