Matatū defeats Hurricanes Poua 43-24 in Aupiki

Matatū defeated Hurricanes Poua 43-24 in a Super Rugby Aupiki match held at Trentham. The South Island team started strong, quickly scoring two tries and leading 26-7 after 24 minutes. Hurricanes Poua fought back before halftime with two tries, narrowing Matatū’s lead. In the early part of the second half, Poua crept within two points of Matatū’s score. However, Matatū displayed better finishing skills, scoring the last three tries of the match. Overall, Matatū scored a total of seven tries compared to the four tries from Poua. With this bonus point victory, Matatū now shares the top spot with the Blues. The Blues have a chance to extend their lead if they win against Chiefs Manawa in a later game today.
