Matt Brennan appointed editor of L.A. Times' The Envelope
Matt Brennan has been appointed editor in chief of The Envelope, the L.A. Times' awards magazine. He will oversee all content, including the Oscars and Emmys Roundtable series, the newsletter, and the video podcast he launched in 2023. Brennan, who joined the L.A. Times in 2019, was previously the deputy entertainment editor. He has led live coverage of awards shows and managed photo and video projects at major film festivals. He succeeds Elena Howe, who is retiring after 31 years. Howe will assist during the transition to ensure a smooth handover. Brennan officially began his new role today.
