Mattel apologizes for packaging error directing consumers to adult website
Mattel has apologized for a misprint on the packaging of its Wicked dolls, which directed consumers to an adult website instead of the official movie site. The error involved the web address wicked.com, leading to a site for a pornographic film. The dolls affected include characters Glinda and Elphaba, based on the upcoming film. Mattel advised parents that the incorrect website is not suitable for children and suggested discarding the packaging. As of November 10, the dolls have been removed from major online retailers like Target and Amazon. The film adaptation of Wicked is set to open in theaters on November 22.
