Max Stassi's son makes significant health progress
Max Stassi, a catcher who has not played in the majors since 2022, is aiming for a spot on the San Francisco Giants' Opening Day roster. His family journey has been challenging, particularly with the birth of his son, Jackson. Jackson Stassi was born nearly three months premature on April 16, 2023. At just one pound and eight ounces, he faced serious health challenges. For the first six months of his life, he required a ventilator and a tracheal tube for breathing. This month, doctors finally allowed him to breathe on his own. Now 23 months old, Jackson is making progress with the help of multiple therapists. Each week, he works with specialists to improve his fine motor skills, speech, and overall development. Although he hasn't begun speaking yet, he shows signs of determination and joy, much like his father. Max Stassi describes his son as a blessing, acknowledging the difficulties the family has faced. Gaby Stassi, Jackson's mother, stepped away from her job to care for him full-time. Max praised her commitment and strength during this challenging time. The family's journey has included numerous hospital visits and intensive therapy. Gaby even took Jackson to Los Angeles for specialized treatment, which has helped him gain strength. Jackson is close to walking and continues to improve each day. Max's own baseball career has been affected by injuries, but he remains optimistic about returning to the field. He has always dreamed of playing for the Giants, his childhood team. As he prepares for the season, he looks forward to a day when both Gaby and Jackson can watch him play.
