MCD proposes ₹50 lakh for Chhath Pooja facilities

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is preparing to propose a budget that includes new financial allocations for various services. During a special meeting on Wednesday, officials plan to discuss adding ₹50 lakh for facilities during Chhath Pooja and other festivals. This move aims to improve services for festivalgoers. Additionally, there will be a proposal for an increase of ₹2 crore to desilt storm water drains. The MCD expects to have a total income of about ₹14,746 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. However, projected expenses are higher, at ₹15,767 crore. Sanitation services are also a priority, with an extra ₹25 lakh suggested for cleanliness improvements throughout Delhi. Schools are set to benefit from upgrades, including better water supply, electricity, and toilet facilities, as well as plans for solar energy installation. Other proposals may include funding for sterilizing stray dogs and building new public toilets to enhance public health. An additional ₹10 lakh could be allocated for upgrading recreation centers for senior citizens. Councillor Jai Bhagwan Yadav is expected to present a significant budget item for school maintenance, with ₹200 lakh earmarked for repairs and improvements. The MCD is set to finalize its budget for the upcoming financial year in this meeting.
