McLaren prioritizes performance over comfort for Norris
Lando Norris, McLaren's driver, recently expressed his wish for a more comfortable car. He acknowledged that the current model, the MCL39, does not fit his driving style perfectly, but he has learned to adapt to it. Despite his complaints, Norris has been performing well. He finished strongly in the first race of the 2025 season in Melbourne. However, he still believes some changes are needed to make the car easier to drive, especially in difficult weather conditions. Norris highlighted the need for more predictability and comfort while driving. He mentioned that he has had to adjust his driving style each year to keep up with the car's performance. While he sees improvements, he still sees room for enhancement. In response to Norris, McLaren's technical director Neil Houldey insisted that the team must prioritize speed. He believes that if they try to make the car suit Norris's style, it could result in a slower vehicle overall. Houldey expressed confidence in Norris's abilities to adapt and continue performing at a high level.
