Medina adds land to JEDD for new restaurant development

Medina's City Council has approved the addition of land to the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) with Montville Township. The land is located on Wooster Pike Road and is currently rated for a quick service restaurant project. Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall reported that the legislation included an emergency clause. This allows the developer to start work on the project quickly. A public hearing was held on February 24, and no objections were raised. The specific parcel at 5864 Wooster Pike Road is in Montville but is surrounded by Medina properties. The project will involve a $3 million investment and is expected to create about 30 new jobs with a total payroll of more than $560,000. Joe Albrecht from Albrecht Inc., the property owner, expressed enthusiasm for being included in the JEDD. He stated it is crucial for the development of their project, which is part of the larger South Court Village initiative that will also feature an Acme Fresh Market. The JEDD, which was established in 2010, aims to benefit landowners and business owners. Revenue generated within the JEDD can be used by businesses for improvements now and in the future.
