Meghan Markle criticized for unoriginal spaghetti recipe
Meghan Markle is facing criticism for her recipe featured in her Netflix show, "With Love, Meghan." A single skillet spaghetti dish she made has been called unoriginal by some chefs. They claim it closely resembles a recipe from well-known food writer Anna Jones. The controversy started after Irish chef Clodagh McKenna cooked the same dish on the UK show "This Morning." Host Ben Shephard commented that while the dish is simple, it seemed less flavorful than other recipes. Co-host Cat Deeley suggested it might be a little bland but noted that children might enjoy it. Food writer Xanthe Clay pointed out the similarities between Meghan's recipe and Jones's "kale, tomato and lemon magic one-pot spaghetti," which was published in Jones's 2015 cookbook. Clay expressed disappointment at seeing another's hard work presented in someone else's collection without acknowledgment. She mentioned that while Meghan's version included garlic and chili flakes, it still mirrored Jones's method and ingredients. Clay emphasized the importance of respecting sources in cooking and suggested a simple acknowledgment for inspiration would have sufficed. "With Love, Meghan," released on March 4, has been renewed by Netflix for another season.
