Mentor woman faces eviction from Middleburg Heights hotel

A 25-year-old woman from Mentor may face eviction from the MainStay Suites hotel in Middleburg Heights after allegedly refusing to leave her room. She was staying there with a 63-year-old man, whose name is on the lease, while hers is not. On March 19, hotel staff called the police around 10 p.m. to report the situation. The staff wanted the couple to leave since the woman had no official arrangement to stay at the hotel. When police arrived, they spoke to the couple in their second-floor room. The man mentioned he had lived at MainStay Suites for around four years, while the woman claimed to have been staying with him on and off for eight months. Hotel management, however, did not authorize her stay and wanted the police to help remove her. The hotel manager said she did not want the man to be kicked out but had previously told him that the woman could not stay. She also mentioned avoiding his room due to a past incident involving a dog. The police informed the manager that an eviction process must be followed and decided to send the case to the prosecutor for further action.
