Meta announces $60 billion investment in AI infrastructure and new data center in Louisiana
Meta plans to invest $60 to $65 billion in AI infrastructure in 2025, significantly increasing its spending from 2024. The company is building a large data center in northeast Louisiana, which will be one of the biggest in its network. The new data center will have a capacity of 2GW and will include over 1.3 million GPUs by the end of the year. Meta aims to match its electricity use with 100% clean energy and invest over $200 million in local infrastructure. This announcement follows OpenAI's recent launch of its $500 billion Stargate Project. Other tech companies, including Microsoft and Amazon, are also increasing their investments in AI and data center infrastructure.
