Metea Valley Theater to present 'Legally Blonde' musical
Metea Valley Theater in Aurora will present "Legally Blonde the Musical" this spring. This award-winning show is based on the popular movie. There will be four performances in total. The first will be a preview show on Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m., featuring the understudies. The main performances are scheduled for May 1-3 at 7 p.m. in the Metea Valley High School auditorium. The musical follows Elle Woods as she navigates her journey to Harvard Law School after a breakup. Tickets can be ordered online starting March 29. Prices are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. In other news, Chicago jazz vocalist Petra van Nuis will perform at the St. Charles Public Library on Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. She will be accompanied by pianist Dennis Luxion, known for his work with jazz legend Chet Baker. They will sing songs from the Great American Songbook. This performance is free, and more details can be found on the library's website. State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit is hosting an online Zoom session on Monday at 9 a.m. The session will feature Jaemie L. Neely from the Federation of Women Contractors. They will discuss legislation affecting diversity and economic opportunities for small and minority-owned businesses in Illinois. Residents can watch live on Facebook or Spotify. An art exhibition called "Movement: Water Into Wood" will open at the Edith Farnsworth House on March 30 at 2 p.m. This exhibition honors Ho-Chunk artist Truman Lowe. A reception will follow, with remarks by author Rebecca Trautmann. The exhibition runs until August 31, 2025, and is free to attend with RSVP. Lastly, the Fox River Trolley Museum will offer Bunny Burrow Express rides on April 5, 12, and 19. These antique trolley rides will take children to a secret rabbit warren and include egg hunts.
