Metro Detroit family identifies remains of missing man
After 30 years, the family of Anthony Gulley finally received answers about his disappearance. Scientists at Ohio University identified his remains, which were found in Stark County, Ohio, in 2001. Anthony, a Pontiac man, went missing in 1994. Elizabeth Gulley, Anthony's sister, shared the emotional toll on her family. She said it is hard to learn what happened to a loved one after so long. "It's been a nightmare," she explained. Elizabeth still vividly remembers the last normal day she spent with her brother, feeling it wouldn't be their final goodbye. Investigators found that Anthony was shot and killed in Pontiac. His body was moved about 250 miles to Ohio, where it was discovered years later. Using new facial reconstruction technology, authorities were able to confirm the John Doe as Anthony, solving a long-standing mystery. While this discovery offers some relief, Elizabeth understands the pain of others still searching for missing family members. She expressed hope that they may also find answers to heal. However, she noted that true closure will only come when Anthony's remains are brought home, an effort the family plans to complete soon. Authorities are looking into his killing and believe George Rickey Washington may have been involved. Washington died by suicide in a police shootout in 1994.
