Metro Manila hospitals prepare for emergencies with Code White alert for Black Nazarene feast
Metro Manila hospitals are on a "Code White Alert" for the Feast of the Black Nazarene on January 9, 2025. This alert prepares hospitals for emergencies, particularly involving surgeons and medical teams, as large crowds are expected. This year, the Black Nazarene will be encased in tempered glass to limit contact due to Covid-19 concerns. The procession will follow the same 5.8-kilometer route as last year, with medical teams deployed along the way. The Department of Health has confirmed no current health concerns related to rumors of a disease outbreak in China. Manila officials will continue health protocols from last year, including hand washing and sanitizing measures.
