Mets' Nimmo uncertain for Opening Day due to injury
Brandon Nimmo is uncertain about starting on Opening Day due to right knee soreness. He may play as designated hitter instead of left field. Nimmo is recovering slowly and is currently running at about 80 percent. Francisco Alvarez broke a bone in his hand and had surgery last week. Recovery typically takes six to eight weeks, but he hopes to start swinging a bat by the end of March. Mets pitchers A.J. Minter and Dedniel Nuñez are progressing toward being ready for Opening Day. Minter made his Grapefruit League debut, while Nuñez is set to pitch in a game soon after recovering from elbow issues.
