Mexico denies Trump's claim of border closure agreement
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has rejected Donald Trump's claim that she agreed to "effectively" close the border with the U.S. She stated that Mexico is already taking measures to manage migration and has no intention of closing its borders. In a social media post, Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that Mexico is addressing migration issues and assisting migrants before they reach the U.S. border. She highlighted the importance of cooperation on security while respecting Mexico's sovereignty. Trump's comments followed his threats to impose new tariffs on Canada and Mexico to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking. He has not clarified the status of these proposed tariffs, despite a significant drop in border crossings over the past year.
