Mexico warns Trump tariffs could cost 400,000 US jobs
Mexico warned that if President-elect Donald Trump imposes a 25-percent tariff on Mexican imports, it could lead to the loss of 400,000 jobs in the United States. This statement follows Trump's threats of a trade war with Mexico, Canada, and China. Mexico's Economy Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, stated that the tariffs would significantly increase costs for U.S. consumers, particularly in the pickup truck market, potentially adding $3,000 to the price of new vehicles. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum called Trump's threats "unacceptable" and has proposed a meeting to discuss the issues before he takes office on January 20. China has also expressed concerns, stating that a trade war would not benefit anyone.
