MGNREGA official arrested in Garhwa for bribery

An official from MGNREGA, Parbhakar Kumar, was arrested on Tuesday for accepting a bribe in Garhwa. He was caught taking Rs 12,000 to sign a utility certificate for a water body project. The arrest was made by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) from the Palamu division. The investigation began after a complaint from Shankar Ram, who reported that a water project was approved for his mother, Jitni Devi. Ram claimed Kumar was demanding money to sign the necessary document. The ACB set up a trap and arrested Kumar while he was accepting the bribe. The operation was conducted with the oversight of a magistrate and two witnesses, according to an ACB official.
