Michigan faces returning winter weather with snow and wind
Michigan is experiencing a return to winter weather today. Temperatures are dropping as the day progresses, bringing gusty winds and a burst of snow. Rain is expected to move into southeast Michigan, especially in areas like Ann Arbor and Detroit, where it may mostly stay rain. However, if it does change to snow, it will likely be wet and melting. Across much of the state, including Kalamazoo and Flint, colder air will create conditions for some accumulating snow. Forecasts suggest light snowfall of about one inch in certain areas this afternoon. Roads are not likely to be affected much since temperatures have remained relatively warm, around the 50s overnight. Winds have shifted to a northerly direction, strengthening throughout the day. A wind advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. for western shoreline counties, with gusts possibly reaching up to 50 mph. Other areas will see gusts around 35 mph, making it feel quite wintry after the recent warm spell. Overall, temperatures will fall into the 30s today, marking the start of a cold spell expected to last for the next week or more. This colder weather is a stark contrast to the mild temperatures experienced just yesterday.
