Michigan's receivers seek playmakers this spring practice
Michigan's new offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey, faces a challenge as the team begins spring practices. He is looking for playmakers among the wide receivers after a tough passing season in 2024. The Wolverines finished last in passing offense, and they lost their top receiver, Tyler Morris, to Indiana. Lindsey emphasized the importance of finding players who can make big plays. He mentioned that several younger receivers, like Semaj Morgan, Fredrick Moore, and Kendrick Bell, along with experienced players like Peyton O’Leary and Donaven McCulley, will have opportunities to show what they can do. McCulley is seen as a potential standout. Although he had limited catches last season, he showed promise in his previous season at Indiana. Lindsey noted McCulley's size and athleticism might help him win one-on-one matchups. To effectively assess talent, Lindsey plans to simplify the offensive strategy early in the practices. He remarked on the team's struggles last year, stating that he aims to enhance quarterback performance and integrate players from various positions. Lindsey believes running backs and tight ends will play significant roles in the passing game. Overall, he is focused on creating a more efficient offense for the Wolverines in 2025.
