Mickie James to return to wrestling on April 17
A former WWE Champion is making a return to the wrestling ring soon. Mickie James, known for her significant contributions to women's wrestling, will compete during WrestleMania weekend. Mickie James began her career in wrestling in 1999. She originally appeared as Alexis Laree on the independent circuit. James joined WWE in 2005 and quickly gained fame. One of her most memorable storylines was with Trish Stratus, where she played an obsessed fan. This storyline led to her first WWE Women's Championship win at WrestleMania 22. Over her career, she has won the WWE Women's Championship five times and the Divas Championship, making her one of the few women to hold both titles. After leaving WWE in 2010, James moved to TNA and won the Knockouts Championship three times. She had additional stints in WWE as a trainer and wrestler before returning to Impact Wrestling in 2021, where she won her fourth and fifth Knockouts Championships. In total, she has won 11 women's world championships between WWE and Impact. In 2024, she took on a new leadership role with Ohio Valley Wrestling. As Creative Director and Head of Female Talent, she aims to give back to the wrestling community. Mickie James will return to the ring on April 17 at the WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Super Show, facing Maki Itoh. This match will be her first since September 2024. James has also served as a coach for the first season of WWE LFG on A&E, although she will be replaced by Michelle McCool in the upcoming season. Despite her many achievements, she has not yet been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, which many believe she deserves soon.
