Microsoft seizes 66 domains linked to Russian hackers targeting elections

This follows a series of attacks targeting organizations, journalists, and NGOs since early 2023. Star Blizzard has been active since 2017, focusing on military officials in the UK and US. The group has employed sophisticated phishing tactics to steal sensitive information and disrupt democratic processes. This operation, conducted with the Department of Justice, has resulted in the seizure of over 100 websites linked to Star Blizzard. Microsoft aims to weaken the group's infrastructure amid concerns about election interference as the 2024 US Presidential election approaches.
