Mike Davis urges GOP to threaten judges opposing Trump
Far-right legal activist Mike Davis recently appeared on Steve Bannon's "War Room" show. He argued that Republican lawmakers should threaten judges who block President Donald Trump's policies. Davis believes it is vital for Congress to address what he calls "activist judges" who he feels are undermining Trump's authority. Davis, who once clerked for Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, claimed that these judges think they are the final barrier against Trump after losing the elections. Some of the judges who have ruled against Trump were actually appointed by him, highlighting the complexity of the situation. Bannon questioned if key Republican leaders were willing to consider impeachment as a response to judicial decisions. Davis insisted that keeping impeachment as a possibility is necessary. He referred to it as a "Sword of Damocles" hanging over judges to get their attention. Additionally, Davis suggested that cutting off funding for the courts could be another strategy. This idea was previously attempted in Kansas in 2015 but led to a legal crisis. According to Davis, these measures are required to force Chief Justice John Roberts to act against the judiciary. As judges continue to challenge Trump's efforts to reorganize federal agencies, Trump and his supporters have threatened to impeach judges based on their rulings. Chief Justice Roberts defended judicial independence, stating that impeachment is not the right response to disagreements. He emphasized that there are proper legal processes to handle such conflicts.
