Millennial buys affordable home in Italy for $35,000

A millennial from Los Angeles named Lauren Scott has purchased her dream home in Italy for just under $35,000. The high cost of living in the United States pushed Scott to look for a home overseas. With a budget of $400,000, she found it difficult to find affordable options in California or Florida. After considering various countries, Scott chose Italy. She lowered her budget to $50,000 and, with the help of a translator and real estate agent, found a furnished two-bedroom townhouse just outside Florence. The house needed only minor repairs, specifically a new hot water boiler. Scott, who still lives in a studio apartment in LA, sees the Italian home as a long-term investment. She wants a secure place to call her own for the future, particularly since freelancing in the film industry comes with financial uncertainties. Scott travels to Italy twice a year and hopes to get a digital nomad visa to stay longer. She also expressed concerns about the financial burdens her generation faces. Scott noted that previous generations had an easier time buying homes. She believes the current economic situation is unfair and is worried about the future for younger people.
