Mineral Resources halts iron ore operations in Onslow

watoday.com.au

Mineral Resources has stopped its iron ore road train operations in Onslow. This decision follows a notice from Worksafe about safety risks on a private road. The suspension comes after two trailers of a road train tipped over on Monday. This incident was the sixth rollover on the 147-kilometre road since August. As a result of the accidents, the company is conducting an internal investigation. Despite the suspension, Mineral Resources is still transporting iron ore using contractor vehicles on alternative routes. In a statement to shareholders, the company said it plans to resume normal operations soon. They have strengthened safety controls and traffic management on the haul road. The company expects this will not affect their production goals for the current financial year.
