Mistrial denied in Strafford County snowplowing shooting case
A judge in Strafford County has denied a request for a mistrial in the case against Jason Levesque. He is accused of shooting his neighbor, Kyle Violette, in a dispute over snow plowing. Levesque faces charges of attempted murder and assault for allegedly shooting Violette six times. He claims he acted in self-defense. Levesque says Violette threatened to kill him and his family if he plowed snow onto his property last year. Violette was expected to testify in the trial, but prosecutors informed the court that he would not take the stand. They said he is suffering from PTSD after the incident, and testifying could worsen his condition. Levesque argued that if he had known Violette would not testify, he would have changed his defense strategy and requested Violette's mental health records. However, the judge decided to proceed with the trial.
