MIT announces tuition waiver for most incoming undergraduates starting in 2025
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced it will waive tuition for about 80% of incoming undergraduate students starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. Families earning under $200,000 annually will qualify for this tuition-free education. Additionally, families with incomes below $100,000 will not need to contribute to tuition, housing, or other expenses. This threshold is an increase from $75,000 this year, while the $200,000 threshold rises from $140,000. MIT aims to make education more accessible and affordable. The university does not require loans for financial aid recipients and does not favor children of alumni or donors in admissions.
