Mitchell Freeway closed after multi-car crash; one hospitalized

A multi-car crash on the Mitchell Freeway has left one person hospitalized and two others trapped. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, just after 1 p.m., near the bridge at the Hodges Drive exit. Emergency services responded quickly. Six fire and rescue crews helped to free the trapped individuals. St John WA and police were also on the scene. One person with serious injuries was taken to Royal Perth Hospital urgently. Their condition is not known yet. Police closed all lanes of the southbound freeway at Hodges Drive due to debris scattered across the road. This caused significant traffic delays for drivers in the area. The freeway was reopened about two hours later, but heavy traffic is still reported as vehicles approach the site of the crash.
