KKR retained six players but did not contact Starc. After Starc's comments, attempts to reach KKR CEO Venky Mysore were blocked on WhatsApp. Reports suggest that Shreyas Iyer also faced a lack of communication from KKR until just before the IPL retention deadline. Mysore stated that KKR maintains transparency and engages in discussions with all players, including those not retained. He emphasized that the franchise communicates with everyone involved.
