Mizoram minister denies cancellation of 85 ration cards
In Mizoram, a political dispute has arisen over the status of 85 ration cards in Phuldungsei village. MNF legislator Robert Romawia Royte expressed concerns in the assembly about the alleged cancellation of these cards. He claimed that the state government cancelled them in 2024 after the cardholders received offline ration cards from Tripura. State minister B Lalchhanzova dismissed Royte's claims. He said the government continues to support the 21 families in Phuldungsei with manual ration cards. Under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), these families receive 35 kilograms of rice each month at no cost. The minister explained that the situation became complicated because the Tripura government had already included these cardholders in their Aadhaar authentication system. When Tripura refused to remove these entries, Mizoram chose to issue manual cards to ensure the rights of the individuals involved. Lalchhanzova added that the previous MNF administration could have avoided this issue with quicker action.
