Mizoram police seize heroin worth over Rs 1.41 crore

Mizoram Police made a significant drug seizure near the Myanmar border. They confiscated 4.722 kg of heroin valued at over 1.41 crore rupees. Six suspects were arrested at the scene, with two more arrested the following day. The police were patrolling near Zokhawthar village when they stopped a taxi and three motorcycles. When officers approached, the vehicles sped away but were caught later. During questioning, the suspects revealed that they had hidden 440 packages of heroin nearby. The arrested individuals include young men from local villages. They face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act from 1985. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to find additional suspects. Further arrests were made shortly after, involving a businessman and another local resident.
